Growing Tennis On Campus at UNC-Chapel Hill

John Hankinson received a USTA Southern award for building the Chapel Hill program

John Hankinson’s travel with his University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill’s Tennis On Campus team has required more miles than all of his years playing junior tournaments. The reigning winner of the USTA Southern Tennis On Campus Leader of the Year, he has played in numerous Southern TOC Championships and in two national tournaments: the USTA TOC Championships in Arizona and at the USTA National Campus in Florida. He heads up a massive contingent of players, as 190 UNC students have tried out for the team. Among the activities the club supports is a grassroots fundraising tennis program in Chapel Hill. Plus, he competed at the USTA Adaptive Tennis Championships with one of his classmates and organized alumni matches on his campus. Listen and check out the future of tennis leadership in the South.
