Korda, Giron, Nakashima, Krajicek and Ram to represent U.S. at 2024 Davis Cup Finals Group Stage in Zhuhai

Victoria Chiesa | July 15, 2024

Two players will make their debuts for the U.S. Davis Cup team when they suit up in September for the 2024 Davis Cup Finals Group Stage. First-time selections Marcos Giron and Brandon Nakashima will join Sebastian Korda, Austin Krajicek, Rajeev Ram and captain Bob Bryan in Zhuhai, China from Sept. 10-15 looking to earn the U.S. a spot in the Davis Cup Finals.

The Group Stage is the second phase of the international team competition in men's tennis after February's qualifying rounds, and consists of four groups of four nations, each of which are competing to advance to the eight-nation knockout stage that will crown this year’s Davis Cup champion.

The U.S. will be competing in Group C in Zhuhai alongside Chile, Germany and Slovakia on an indoor hard court inside the Hengqin International Tennis Center. Each group features a round-robin competition and the top-two finishers from each group will advance to the eight-team, knockout Finals from Nov. 19-24.

Each head-to-head between countries consists of two singles matches and one doubles match.

Group C (Zhuhai)
All times local (12 hours ahead of ET)

In addition to first-timers Giron and Nakashima, world No. 22 Korda will make his third Davis Cup appearance, and second this year. In February, he helped the U.S. qualify for the round-robin phase by chipping in one singles win in a 4-0 triumph over Ukraine in the competition's opening round after previously debuting in the Qualifier in 2022. Krajicek and Ram have earned their fourth and seventh career call-ups, respectively, and have played together in the last three consecutive stages of the competition.

The U.S. has won a record 32 Davis Cup titles, but has been eliminated in the Group Stage in three of the four years since the competition's format changed in 2019. In 2022, the U.S. reached the quarterfinals.

The full Group Stage schedule is available on the Davis Cup website, and more information can be found on the USTA's Davis Cup homepage.
